Famed for being one of the world's biggest student surf events, this year's 2009 BUCS Surfing Championships in association with Ticket to Ride went down as the best year in the event's history. Perfect waves, glorious sunshine and over 1000 students on the beach to cheer their respective university surfers all the way to the beach.
Organised by BUCS, run by the British Surfing Association and sponsored by Ticket to Ride Worldwide Surfing Adventures, this years student surf championships is a testament to both the strength of student sports and management of British Surfing.
All the elements came together for us this weekend. The sun shone, the waves were classic and the standard of surfing was at its highest. The whole weekend had a festival feel to it and we felt privileged to be a part of it. Will Hayler Co-founder of Ticket to Ride - Worldwide Surfing Adventures.
Also on show down at the International surfing Centre on Fistral Beach was an exhibition about the sea as well as a number of live performances from up and coming student bands courtesy of the team at Relays.
Thanks must also go to the team at Outgoing.co.uk for their involvement in the provision of transport and accommodation as well as the all important evening entertainment.
