Hello / Howzit...depending on your provenance.
On the
Ticket to Ride Foundation Facebook page i've posted a few pics from our first training session of the year. A good one and the sign of things to come as the Foundation takes a step forward in 2010. We had Joe with us and it was a great start as he took to it and got to know the kids, who all dug him. Happy days.
And number two. And most importantly.
For all who live in Cape Town / the wider world. Yup, there is a world beyond Cape Town....even if many doubt it...haha. I've had a few emails asking how locals can get involved, been scratching my head...and here goes. We're starting a couple of new initiatives over the coming weeks to build in the community. We're going to start a Kite building project with the girls of the street. We'll be building small material kites and then painting / decorating them, hoping to launch a little Kite show at some point in the future. If you would like to come along, then pls email. Bring some materials and come play. It'll be grand.
Second. Masi is a mess, and we're gonna clean it up. We are asking all locals to donate / offload any old dustbins / drums they might have. We've going to paint them and distribute them around Masi and will be embarking on regular street cleanups with the kids to teach them about the importance of proper waste disposal and pride in their environment. If you want to provide and paint a bin, pls do so. If you want to join us on a township sweep, pls do so. We'll cook you a burger afterwards to say cheers. Adverts will pop up here for dates and time.
If you've got big outdoor bins, or big empty barrels lying unused, let me know. We may be able to pick them up if you're local enough, otherwise we'd love to invite you over for a painting session.
Ok cheers.
I hope this message was less an intrusion and more an invitation.
Pass it on.
Super Sweet.
Tim
