The Ticket to Ride Foundation has launched in Cape Town, working within the township of Masiphumelele with long term friend Thomas and the kids of Kolobe Street.

Thomas is working with Tim Conibear. Tim has been in charge of our SA tours for the last two years and has now taken up a permanent role in Cape Town to open a very exciting new chapter in Ticket to Ride's continuing development as the leader of Gap and Career Break surf adventures.

The Foundation runs football training sessions in the afternoons and a twice weekly soup kitchen to keep the kids active and well fed. In addition to football, Tim has recently established a surfing programme and a swimming programme to get the kids off the streets and into the ocean.

In September, with the assistance of funds raised by former TTRide Graduate Beth Holland, the foundation is set to extend Thomas' shack to provide a club house for the kids and also a centre for a planned arts and crafts workshop for the local girls.

There will be a small number of Volunteer placements on sale to help Tim and Thomas with the running of the creche. These placements will also offer the chance to learn to surf with personalised daily instruction or guiding from Tim. Details of these will appear on the Foundation page very shortly.
