Ticket To Ride sponsor BUCS Surf Champs for third year running
Published by Admin on 6th October 2009 at 11:07:34.
BUCS is delighted to announce Ticket To Ride as associate sponsor of the BUCS Surfing Championships taking place this month in Newquay, Cornwall.

Hundreds of student surfers are expected to descend on Cornwall’s world-famous beach, Fistral for a weekend of quality competition and surf culture from the 16 – 18 October 2009.

Ticket to Ride (TTRide) is a natural partner for the BUCS event offering surf adventure courses in South Africa, Mozambique and Costa Rica. It also sponsors a handful of British University Surf Clubs through product support, Portugal and Morocco group trips, and discounted coaching at the Ticket to Ride Surf Academy in Perranporth, Cornwall.

Linley Lewis TTRide co-founder said: “We are big fans of university surfing, and very proud to be sponsoring the BUCS Surfing Championships for the third year running.”

For the first time in the event’s history the BUCS Surfing Championships has also joined forces with the British Surf Association (BSA) RELAYS (the South West's Legacy Trust UK and HEFCE funded programme of sport and culture in the lead up to 2012), University College Falmouth and travel company, Outgoing.co.uk to offer competitors and spectators a full package of surfing opportunities and day to night social activities during the weekend.

To complement the surfing competition, students from University College Falmouth have created a new exhibition called 'Inspired by the Sea’ - a programme of music, art and film to showcase the region's surf culture for free on the beach.

This year an exclusive ‘Surfer’s Village’ will also be available for student surfers and supporters. Organised by travel partner, Outgoing.co.uk at Trevelgue Holiday Park, the village has wetsuit drying facilities, on-site bar and will offer regular links to and from Fistral Beach and Newquay town centre.

Accommodation at the Surfer’s Village starts from £39 for three nights, including free entry to all entertainment. To book, please visit www.bucssurfchamps.co.uk.

Entries for the BUCS Surfing Championships will close on Thursday 8 October. Students can enter via their athletic union and download the season’s information from www.bucs.org.uk/surfing
