Jeffrey’s Bay perfectly encapsulates all that is Ticket to Ride. With World Class surf on our doorstep and some really good community projects all a short walk away; our 2 weeks in Jeffrey’s Bay are one of the many highlights of the trip.

We will be working with Etienne Venter, the current SA surf team coach. Each Rider will have their surfing corrected and tuned so that they will leave Jeffrey’s Bay with lifetime memories of waves that last forever. With some of the world’s best waves right in front of the surf camp, Jeffrey’s Bay can be a real turning point for your surfing as you make the step to the next level.

Island Vibe is on a bluff overlooking the second of Jeffrey’s Bay’s famous waves – Kitchen Windows. Island Vibe is renowned throughout South Africa for its vibrant atmosphere and beautiful setting and consequently gets packed with travellers from around the world looking to kick back and enjoy their stay.

Community Work forms an important part of our time here. We will be spending time in the Jeffrey’s Bay Township at the Makukanhye School. At Makukanhye we will be helping them with essential maintenance as well as cooking the 700 children lunch. You will also have a chance to sit in on lessons and experience life in a Township School.

You will also have the chance to get involved in the Jeffrey’s Bay surf club. This is a lottery-funded scheme giving the local kids access to wetsuits and surfboards. At 3 pm everyday those who want to can spend an afternoon coaching the local kids in the waves in front of Island Vibe.

We will also be helping out at the Supertubes Foundation. This is a local conservation group set up by local surfers to protect the Flora and Fauna indigenous to the Jeffrey’s Bay area. Much of it is now under threat from developments up and down the coast and we will be assisting them in their work to keep J-Bay looking it’s best.

J-Bay is a magical place and fully deserves its reputation as the Mecca of surfing. Enjoy your stay here and take advantage of all the wonderful activities on offer.
