Stop Focus Final Preparation for the Qualifications

Heading away from Coffee Bay and up the coast towards Port Shepstone the scenery becomes more and more tropical and monkeys fill the trees that spill over onto the waterfront. Umtentweni is the Gateway to the Natal coastline and our 5 day stay will give you a full flavour of what’s to come as we continue our journey north towards Durban.

“The Spot” is run by Glen Millwood and sits just off the regular backpacker coastal route. We will be able to enjoy the waves from the privacy of our own hostel as we take over the place for the full 5 days. With surf and lifesaving courses just round the corner, 'The Spot' is the perfect place to be. Situated right on the beach this is the time to start getting fully prepared for the courses and to fine tune surfing skills.

We will be working with ex-World Champ Ant Brodowicz whose experience and depth of knowledge in both surfing and surf coaching will be of enormous benefit. With the waves right on our doorstep and the privacy offered by “The Spot” there will be great opportunities for Video Coaching and feedback sessions as well as the odd inter-TTRide competition.

We will also be spending a morning in the Oribi Gorge, an area of outstanding natural beauty just inland from Umtentweni. For the brave there is one of the world’s largest gorge swing’s, for the less brave it is a chance to spend a morning relaxing in some truly breathtaking surroundings.

Umtentweni is all about surfing yet more uncrowded waves right on your doorstep and relaxing as we begin preparations for the “Business end” of the trip.
